Maybe you are questioning the impact of the recent hurricanes in Haiti. After all it isn't on the news, and if you search the internet there isn't a lot out there in the main stream media. What you will find though is church after church looking for support to help the victims of this year's hurricane season. The reality is that Haiti isn't in the spot light, I am sure that there are many factors for this, but rest assured the need is real and it is great.
We are heading down to help capture the gravity of the situation in media form so that we can share with all of you the desperation that exists there. The greatest concern is not short term though, it is long term. The areas hit hardest by these hurricanes were near the cities of Gonaives and St Marc. Known as the "bread basket" of Haiti, this region is the main supplier of domestic crops for the entire nation. Harvest season for this region is in October, but much of the region is currently under murky water. This will mean that a country that currently has insufficient resources to provide for it's own basic needs, will have even less.
We are heading back to Haiti on October 15th. Please help us to raise funds to bring with us to help provide for the needs we will encounter. Donations can be made at our website by clicking the "Donate" button on the front page.
Please consider taking just a few minutes to view this video that we have put together:
